Mangalore, Aug 21: Just like the reality shows in the field of music and dance witnessed in television channels, the ‘Mangalore United’ team for Karnataka Premier league has commenced a three-day reality show of cricket matches, to put to test the talents of the aspirants in the field of cricket. This show, in which 45 cricketers are pitched against each other, is being held to choose the three best cricketers for being admitted as members of the ‘Mangalore United’ cricket team.

The ‘reality show’ started on August 21 at NITK grounds in Surathkal, that was inaugurated by the the owner of the team, Mohidin Bawa, who is the owner of Fiza group and Santosh suvarna, owner of Global Associates along with Charu Sharma, popular television cricket commentator, who is the chief for the selection of the team members.

The ‘reality show’ is being telecast in a local TV channel. The reality show of the cricket has created lot of interest among the local people, just like the international tournaments. The locals, especially the students, have gathered around the NITK grounds in large numbers, to watch the cricket matches.

The selection round, which has been christened as the ‘reality show’, will continue for three days till august 23. A total of 45 players out of the 425, who  applied for the membership of Mangalore team, are playing in this reality show. 45 players have been divided into four teams. The teams have been playing against one another, to expose their capability and potential, with the hope tha they would be selected for the team.

Out of this three-day tournament, 14 players will be selected for the final round. which will be held in august 30. These 14 players will play a final match with the Mangalore United KPL team, which has been chosen through the  bidding process.  Finally, out of these 14,  three local players will be selected for the Mangalore United team.

Charu Sharma will be the in-charge of selection process and only the talent and ability of players will be counted, because we need performances alone in the KPL tournament, said Moideen Bava.

Road Show on Aug 30

Moideen Bawa also informed that  there will be aroad show on August 30, from the players of the Mangalore  United team. The players were selected in bidding and they represent Mangalore, so they need to know about Mangalore. “For this purpose, we wanted to introduce them with this road show”, he added.
