Mangalore: 'Kalavidara Okkoota' Felicitates Musical Achievers

Mangalore, Aug 12: The children should be encouraged by the parents to actively take part in music and art competitions. At the same time, there is also a need of teach them to take such competitions with a sportive spirit, advised art and music critic A Ishwaraiah, at a programme organized by Karavali Sangeetha Kalavidara Okkoota at the Town Hall here, on Tuesday, August 12.

Presiding over a programme of treasure hunt and felicitations to the achievers in the field of music, Ishwaiah noted that in most of the competitions, the children who take part in the competitions are seen crying, while only a few sport a smiling face. This is a clear indication that there is a need to teach the children to take every competition with sportsmanship spirit. Only then can they grow into good musicians or artists when they grow up, he analyzed.


































The children also need to be given proper guidance and training in the musical field, to hone their talents and shine in future, he said.

Shankar Bhat, Mayor, Mangalore City corporation said that the music is not only for the happiness  but also for difficulties in life, as it has such a power.

Veteran musician Ashok from Ashok-charan musician duo, Music director B K Narayan were felicitated by guests. Young music directors Rajesh M and Kabeer also honoured.

B R Bhat, Deputy General Manager of Corporation Bank, Sunil Kulakarni, General manager from Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers, Prabhakar Ambalathere, of Ambalathere vision Sharjah, writer Shivananda Karkera were chief guests. Sadashivadas Pandeswar of Das Promotions, Singer Pushkala Kumar Thonse, Musician Satheesh Surathkal were also present.  

 Musical orchestra held after the programme. Young and popular singers including Film playback singer Rameshchandra, Shrikanth, Anitha Samson sung the popular songs. Prakash Pandeswar, owner of Jayakirana evening news paper also honoured for the support for forum.
