‘Thiyya Utsav-2009’ Concludes With Sri Srinivas Kalyana Mahotsav

Mumbai, Mar 23:
‘Thiyya Utsav–2009’ organized by the Thiyya Samaj Mumbai and Thiyya Samaj Dubai, UAE, in association with Bharatiya Thiyya Samaj, Mangalore, and Kudroli Sri Bhagavati Kshetra, Mangalore, at Chatrapati Raje Shivaji stadium, Kher Nagar, Bandra (East), concluded on Saturday March 21 with the Sri Srinivas Kalyana Mahotsav. 
 
Sri Laxmivarateerta Swami of Shiroor Math, Udupi, Sri Laxminarayana Asranna of Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple, Kateel, Mangalore, and Sri Suvarna Baba of Panchakuteer Mahasheshsarundamalini Temple, Powai, graced the occasion.
 
Sri Laxmivarateerta Swami, speaking on the occasion said that Tulu–Kannadigas’ settled in the metro have significantly contributed to the prosperity of the undivided Dakshina Kannada (DK) district. 



He said that Mumbaikars’ were persistent, hard-working people and natives of the coastal district settled in the metro had donated their mite to the growth of undivided DK over the past many years.  “Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti has been striving to get the due share of electricity for the industrialization of undivided DK”, he asserted.
 
Meanwhile, Swami Laxmivarateerta Swami hoped that the Paryaya that was due at the Math in Udupi would be attended by people of all communities.    
 
Mumbai Thiyya Samaj president Chandrashekar Belchada presided over the programme.
 
Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti founder Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty was the chief guest while Mumbai Billava Association president Jaya C Suvarna, Mumbai Devadiga Sangh past president Dharmapal U Devadiga, Mumbai Bunts’ Sangh president Aikala Harish Shetty, and Mumbai Bhandary Seva Samiti president Balakrishna P Bhandary, were the guests of honour. 
 
The English version of Sri Vishnu Sahasranama, authored by Parthasarati was released on the occasion.
 
Sri Laxminarayan Asranna of Kateel Durgaparameshwari Temple was felicitated on behalf of Tulu–Kannadiga Mumbaikars.
 
M S N Vaidya, K P Arvind, Dr Tilak Suvarna, Dr Dayanand Kumbla, Chandravati Vasant, and Komal Ullal, were also felicitated.
 
Mira Road B Krishnappa and wife, Mumbai Thiyya Samaj honourary president and welcome committee president Kumar N Bangera, Rohidas Bangera, Praveen Shanker B M, L Babu, Ramesh Ullal, and Thiyya monthly journal honourary editor Eshwar L were present.
 
Divika Chandrashekar welcomed the gathering while Prabhakar K proposed the vote of thanks. Ashok Pakkala and G T Acharya compered the programme.

    Idea of Thiya Utsav with Shrinivasa Kalyanam programme was great & only Person like kumar Bangera could have thaught of it, Proud to be Thiya. Jai Ho & hope Now in hole all the Thiyas will prosphers like any other community.Wish to see repeated telecast on TV
