Sabyasachi to open LFW 2015 with offsite show

Mumbai, Feb 18 (IANS): Ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee will open the Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) Summer-Resort 2015, a season that marks 15 years of India’s premier fashion trade platform, with an offsite show next month.

Sabyasachi, who made his debut in 2002 with the fashion gala and is also one of the esteemed members of the Advisory Board at LFW, has pioneered the use of Indian textiles and craft tradition globally. He is excited about opening the extravaganza.

“Lakmé Fashion Week holds a special place in my journey as a designer other than being my debut platform. Our success stories resonate and have been parallel. It gives me great pleasure to open the season that commemorates 15 years of LFW in India and be a part of this milestone," the designer said in a statement.

The forthcoming five-day edition will start March 18 at Palladium Hotel here and Sabyasachi's show will take place March 17 at an offsite location.

The evening will see some popular faces and successful names take to the ramp to commemorate the occasion.

“We chose Sabyasachi, a name that resonates with our platform’s journey and success, spanning over 15 years. We hope to curate an evening that will be remembered for a very long time. One for the books if I may say!”, said Saket Dhanker, head-fashion, IMG Reliance.
