Mumbai, Oct 22: Actor Ranbir Kapoor has apologised for a slip of the tongue during a Dussehra event in West Bengal, clarifying that he did not intend to misrepresent the festival’s message of good triumphing over evil.

Speaking at a grand event for his upcoming film Ramayana in Chennai, Ranbir expressed regret over the incident and explained what he had intended to say.

“I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the incident that happened yesterday. I was at the Dussehra event, and I had a slip of the tongue. What I meant to say is, ‘Burai chahe kitni bhi takatvar kyun na ho, aakhir mein jeet achhai aur sachai ki hogi’,” he said.

Referring to his film Rockstar and his collaboration with music composer AR Rahman, he added, “What I want to say is, ‘Jo bhi main kehna chahoon, barbaad kare alfaaz mere’. So I truly apologise for that.”

Ranbir had attended a Dussehra celebration in West Bengal, where he spoke about the festival’s significance and its connection to the epic. His remarks about the ultimate triumph of goodness and truth drew attention online.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana Part One is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, coinciding with Diwali. The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and English.

The film features Ranbir as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Yash as Ravana. Arun Govil, Lara Dutta and Rakul Preet Singh are also part of the cast.
