Indian track cyclists fail to impress


Incheon, Sep 25 (IANS): Indian track cyclists Amarjit Singh Nagi and Amrit Singh failed to qualify for the men's keirin finals at the 17th Asian Games here Thursday.

Nagi finished fourth in Heat 2, behind China's Xu Chao, while Amrit Singh came in fifth behind Japan's Wakimoto Yuta in Heat 3.

The first two riders from each heat qualified to the second round while the rest of the cyclists qualified to repechages.

In repechage, Nagi finished fifth behind Malaysia's Josiah Onn Lam in Heat 1 while in Heat 2, Amrit finished fifth behind South Korea's Im Chaebin at the Incheon International Velodrome.

Iran's Daneshvarkhourram Mohammad bagged the gold medal while Japan's Watanabe Kazunari clinched silver. Malaysia's Josiah Onn Lam settled for the bronze.
