NCA annex trophy


Bangalore, Aug 15 (IANS): National Cricket Academy (NCA) duly won the KSCA's All-India invitational cricket tournament on the basis of their first innings lead against Haryana Cricket Association (HCA) as play was called off on mutual consent after tea on the fourth and concluding day here Friday.

The last day's proceedings turned out to be rather farcical after NCA, despite a huge first innings lead of 379, opted not to enforce follow-on and went on to make 223 for eight declared in their second essay setting Haryana an ungettable target of 603.

The feature of the final day's play was Ankit Bhavane's second century of the match as he made 100 not out (153b, 10x4, 1x6). Bhavane had scored 162 in the first innings. Haryana were 142 for four in their second innings when play was called off and NCA.

National Cricket Academy 656 and 223 for 8 decl in 54.2 overs (Ankit Bhavane 100 not out, Sudeep Chatterjee 32, Sonu Rathee 2-23, Jayant Yadav 2-47) drew with Haryana Cricket Association (HCA) 277 for 9 and 142 for 4 in 20 overs (Rahul Dalal 64, Joginder Sharma 58, Kuldeep Yadav 2-35). NCA declared winners on the basis of first innings lead.
