Mother-daughter killed in Delhi house collapse


New Delhi, Oct 15 (IANS): A woman and her two-year-old daughter died when the single-storey house, in which they lived, collapsed here Tuesday, police said. Her elder daughter and another family member were injured in the accident.

The incident occurred at Kashmiri Gate area in north Delhi Tuesday noon. The house was in deplorable condition and that might be the reason why it collapsed, police said.

"Chandani, 35, and Roop Rani, 2, were declared dead in the hospital while her elder daughter Ladli, 12 and her brother-in-law Anil received severe injuries," said a police officer.

Chandani's husband, Manoj who is a labourer, was out at work.

Police have registered a case of negligence. Personnel of the Delhi Fire Service, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority and police were pressed into the rescue operation.

On Oct 9, two people were killed and one person was injured when a 50-year-old, three-storeyed building collapsed at Sadar Bazar area of central Delhi.
