Patna, Jul 15: A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Sakrauli village of Bihar’s Kaimur district on Tuesday, where three minor girls drowned while bathing in a pond, plunging the entire community into grief.

The girls, all aged between 10 and 11, had gone out to graze goats when sudden rains prompted them to bathe in a pond located to the east of the village. During the bath, three of them slipped into deep water and drowned. Two others, who stayed on the bank, ran back to alert the villagers.

By the time help arrived, the girls were already unresponsive. All three were declared dead after being pulled from the water.

The victims were identified as:

• Usha Kumari (11), daughter of Jeetan Ram
• Mahima Kumari (10), daughter of Bhorik Ram
• Sunita Kumari (10), daughter of the late Surendra Pasi

The Mohania police, led by station in-charge Priyash Priyadarshi, reached the scene and sent the bodies for post-mortem at Sadar Hospital, Bhabua. Legal procedures are underway.

Local Zila Parishad member Geeta Pasi expressed frustration over the non-responsiveness of officials, stating repeated calls to the Circle Officer went unanswered during the crisis.

The entire village is in mourning, with anguished cries heard throughout Sakrauli as families and neighbours gathered to grieve.
In a similar incident a day earlier, three children of the same family drowned while bathing in a canal in Kazichak village, Gaya district. Only one of the four children survived.

The repeated tragedies have sparked demands for safety measures, accountability, and immediate financial aid for the bereaved families.
