Jerusalem, Jul 14: At least 43 Palestinians, including eight children, were killed on Sunday in fresh Israeli airstrikes across Gaza, even as ceasefire talks between Hamas and the Israeli government remained stalled in Doha.
Ten of the victims died in a drone strike while they were waiting at a water distribution point in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. The attack added to the mounting civilian toll in the densely populated territory, where over two million people have been displaced at least once since the war began.

Gaza's Civil Defence agency also reported that 11 people were killed when a market in Gaza City was hit, while three others died in the southern coastal area of Al-Mawasi after a tent sheltering displaced families was bombed.
Residents of Nuseirat described scenes of horror. “We woke up to the sound of two large explosions. Our neighbour and his children were under the rubble,” said Khaled Rayyan. Another local, Mahmud al-Shami, urged negotiators to bring an end to the war, saying, “What happened to us has never happened in the entire history of humanity. Enough.”
Despite ongoing efforts, negotiations in the Qatari capital have made little progress. Delegations from Hamas and Israel have been discussing a US-backed proposal for a 60-day ceasefire, but both sides have accused each other of stalling the talks. US President Donald Trump has expressed hope for a breakthrough, but there has been no concrete outcome so far.
Meanwhile, the humanitarian crisis continues to deepen. On Saturday, 17 Palestinians were reportedly shot dead while attempting to receive food aid. Witnesses described people being hit in the head and torso. Israel denied the allegation, stating its troops only fired warning shots and claimed there was no evidence of casualties from its forces.
Seven UN agencies have warned of a critical fuel shortage in Gaza, which now threatens to halt aid delivery, medical services, and worsen already dire food insecurity.
The ongoing war began after Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, which killed 1,219 people. Of the 251 hostages taken that day, 49 are still believed to be in Gaza, including 27 declared dead by the Israeli military.
According to Gaza’s health ministry, over 58,000 Palestinians—most of them civilians—have been killed in Israeli attacks since then. The UN has considered these figures credible.
As the violence continues and ceasefire efforts falter, the people of Gaza remain trapped in an unrelenting cycle of death, displacement, and desperation.
