Mumbai, Feb 28: The ‘Varadaraja Adya Prashasti’ given every year by the Karnataka Sangha, Mumbai, was presented to eminent litterateur  D S Chowgule of Belgaum, for the year 2005.

The ceremony took place at the Karnataka Sangha’s Dr Vishveshwaraiah hall.  Prof Dr  B A Vivek Rai, chancellor, Hampi Kannada University, who was the chief guest, honoured Chowgule.

President of the Karnataka Sangha Manohar M Kori, presided over the function. As part of entertainment, ‘Rakta Kanniru’ Kannada feature film was screened.

Bharat Kumar Polipu, vice-president, welcomed the gathering and introduced the winners. Omdas Kananngar, honorary chief secretary, compered. B G Nayak, honorary chief treasurer, gave the vote of thanks.
