Mangaluru-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express extended to Bengaluru

Udupi, Sep 30: The Vande Bharat Express operating between Mangaluru and Madgaon has been extended up to Bengaluru. Union Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary about the decision through a letter.

MP Kota Srinivas Poojary had written to the Union minister on November 12, 2025, June 6, 2026, and August 10, 2026, requesting the introduction of a new Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Mangaluru-Madgaon.

Responding to the request, the minister stated that the existing Vande Bharat Express operating between Madgaon and Mangaluru has been extended up to Bengaluru via Udupi, Kundapur and Karwar.

The train will henceforth operate under the name 26655/26656 Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express with a revised timetable, the letter stated.

    John From a long time now Mangalore has been literally squeezed by the Malayalees. Every train coming to Mangalore has been hijacked to Kasaragod or other stations in Keralam. This is their Lungi Power. The railways need to use their Dynamic booking so any tickets for Bangalore - Mangalore on Tatkal should be starting from Mangalore. Then we can see how many tickets are sold locally here. Same way also for Murudeshwar. Even now, Day trains are not operating properly. Railway people under tatkal schedule are exorbitantly charging the public and cheating Bonafide travellers.

    Direct Mangalore-Bangalore VB train is needed at this hour. The current route is not suitable for business/regular commuters. Time is essence for all.

    Simply a half hearted appeasement of the local population. The should simultaneously start from both ends and timings are very important. Business people will not adhere to improper reaching schedules . Both ways they need to have proper time to conclude their business so they should reach in the mornings just before offices open.o

    The same train. Mangalore will not get new service. Trail run was made till Mangalore because VB is new to this route. From Mangalore - Madgaon VB was already running, hence trail run was not required in this route. Railway Minister has written letter not only to Srinivas Poojary, but to Brijesh Chowta also.

    There must be a separate VB from Mangalore to Bangalore since Madgaon train will be overcrowded with passengers from Karwar and Goa. If a separate VB is made available to Mangalore then Madgaon train can bypass M’lore City by providing stops at Bantwal and Surathkal.
