Dakshina Kannada, Udupi districts likely to receive thunderstorms from May 6

Mangaluru/Udupi, May 5: After a brief lull, the coastal region is likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by rain from Wednesday May 6, according to the meteorological department.

Light rainfall may occur at a few places in Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts on Tuesday. From Wednesday until the weekend, moderate rainfall is expected along the coast, while south interior regions are likely to receive moderate to fairly widespread rain. Gusty winds and lightning activity are also likely during this period, the department said. North interior Karnataka is also expected to experience thunderstorms during the same timeframe.

Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts experienced hot and humid weather on Monday. Although cloudy conditions prevailed across most coastal areas in the morning, no rainfall was reported. Light rain has been reported from various parts of Mysuru and Chamarajanagar.

In Mangaluru, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34°C, which is 0.3°C below normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 26.1°C, which is 0.8°C above normal.
