Mangaluru, Apr 12: In a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of rowdy-sheeter Arif, a resident of Ajjinadka in Kinya, police have revealed that the accused had made a primary attempt on his life as early as February 13.
According to police sources, the accused had followed Arif in the early hours of February 13 with the intent to kill. However, due to certain unexpected developments while they were tailing him, the gang was unable to execute their plan on that day.

Persistence eventually led to the fatal attack on March 27, when the gang intercepted Arif near the Thokkottu flyover while he was on his way to the Bunder fish market on his bike. The assailants hacked him to death with lethal weapons before fleeing the scene.
Involvement of more suspects
The police investigation has further uncovered that apart from those already arrested, several other individuals were involved in the initial failed attempt.
Mangaluru City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy stated that specific information regarding the other accomplices involved in the first conspiracy has been obtained, and they will be taken into custody shortly.
The police have already arrested the primary accused, identified as Rifat, Juttu Ashfaq, Khalil, Shakir, Irfan, and Rizwan, along with Irshad, who allegedly assisted in the crime. Investigations are now focused on the links between the individuals involved in the successful second attack and those who provided support during the initial failed conspiracy.
