Puttur, Apr 10: Emphasising the core values of Indian culture, Karnataka governor Thawar Chand Gehlot stated that service, duty, and dedication are the true path of life, while addressing a religious gathering in Dakshina Kannada district.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the gopuram and mantapa and the Brahmakalashotsava ceremony held at the Shri Kodandarama, Panchamukhi Anjaneya Kshetra, Hanumanagiri temple.

Highlighting India’s spiritual legacy, the governor said that Indian culture has always promoted universal brotherhood, global welfare, peace, equality, and harmony. He added that many countries across the world look towards India for spiritual and mental well-being.

Speaking on environmental values, he noted that Indian traditions consider nature sacred, including rivers, mountains, trees, animals, and birds, all of which are integral to the cycle of life. He remarked that such a perspective is highly relevant in addressing today’s environmental challenges and aligns with the principles of sustainable development.

Describing the significance of the temple, Gehlot said the site is not merely a place of worship but also a centre of spiritual peace and cultural inspiration for the community. Referring to mythology, he mentioned the belief that a part of the Sanjeevini mountain carried by Lord Hanuman during the Treta Yuga fell at this location, making Hanumanagiri a sacred place. He also noted that the site is often regarded as the “Dakshina Ayodhya” of Karnataka, symbolising the bond between Lord Rama and Hanuman.

Calling the occasion a “golden chapter in spiritual history,” the governor said the grand celebration reflects the enduring strength of India’s faith, culture, and traditions. He added that the temple structures, including the gopuram and mantapa, stand as living symbols of devotion, tradition, and cultural consciousness.

He further stated that the Brahmakalashotsava, performed with sacred rituals and Vedic chanting, spreads renewed spiritual energy and reinforces values such as unity, morality, and harmony in society.

Emphasising the role of temples, Gehlot said they are not just places of worship but also centres that guide society, preserve values, and connect generations. They inspire individuals to follow the path of truth, righteousness, service, and dedication.

Referring to the Panchamukhi Anjaneya form, he said it symbolises strength, wisdom, loyalty, and devotion, encouraging people to lead a disciplined and purposeful life. Quoting from the Ramcharitmanas, he reiterated that true fulfillment lies in serving a higher purpose with dedication.

The Governor concluded by calling upon people to strengthen India’s cultural and spiritual heritage and engage in collective efforts for the welfare of society.

The event was attended by Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji of Sri Ramachandrapura Math and MP Brijesh Chowta, along with several dignitaries.
