Belagavi, Aug 8: In a historic first in the long history of St Paul’s, Belagavi, St Paul’s Sunbeam Nursery and St Paul’s Jesuit School, Camp, launched the bunny movement at an investiture ceremony held on Saturday, August 8, at the Magis Hall of St Paul’s High School.

The colourful and meaningful ceremony was attended by students, teachers and school authorities. Sriya Raghvendra, who was the 22, was warmly welcomed and escorted to the venue along with the dignitaries.

The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by an inter-religious prayer and prayer song.

The chief guest was formally introduced and felicitated before addressing the gathering and formally inaugurating the bunny movement.

The bunny movement aims at the holistic development of young children, fostering values of kindness, leadership, responsibility, discipline, teamwork and service. The movement provides children with opportunities to learn through participation and develop confidence while becoming sensitive to the needs of others and the environment.

Addressing the gathering, Fr Eric Mathias SJ, principal of St Paul’s, explained the significance of the bunny movement and its role in the formation of young children. He urged the students to grow as joyful, green and responsible young people. He emphasised the importance of caring for others, respecting nature and taking responsibility for one's actions.

The investiture ceremony was the highlight of the programme. The young bunnies proudly donned their bunny movement aprons, symbolising their new identity and commitment to the movement. The Bunny Salute, followed by the Oath-Taking Ceremony, added a sense of pride and responsibility to the occasion.

The students also presented an energetic bunny movement drill, showcasing their discipline, coordination, enthusiasm and teamwork.

The performance was enthusiastically received by the gathering.

The introduction of the bunny movement is particularly significant as St Paul’s continues its journey of holistic and value-based education.

The movement seeks to nurture children who are joyful in spirit, caring towards others, responsible in their actions and conscious of their responsibility towards the environment and the wider community.

The programme concluded with the principal’s address and the vote of thanks, followed by the National Anthem.

A group photograph was taken to mark the historic occasion, after which snacks were distributed and the children dispersed.

The launch of the bunny Movement adds another significant milestone to the rich educational journey of St Paul’s, which is celebrating its 170-year Jesuit legacy.

The movement is expected to provide a vibrant platform for young Paulites to learn, lead, serve and grow together.
