Seoul, Aug 9: India's Ashmita Chaliha staged a superb comeback to defeat China's Han Qian Xi in the women's singles final and win the Korea Masters 2026 on Sunday, claiming her maiden BWF title.
The Assam shuttler lost the opening game 14-21 but bounced back strongly to win the next two games 21-14, 21-14 in 53 minutes.
Ashmita had earlier booked her place in the final after defeating fellow Indian Rakshitha Ramraj 21-13, 16-21, 21-13 in the semifinal on Saturday.
Han Qian Xi had reached the final after overcoming South Korea's G Kim 22-20, 18-21, 21-14 in the other semifinal.
The victory adds another major achievement to Ashmita's career. She was part of India's gold-medal-winning team at the 2024 Asia Team Championships and had also won gold medals in both the women's singles and team events at the 2019 South Asian Games.
The Korea Masters title marks her first BWF title and caps a memorable campaign for the Indian shuttler.
