Udupi: Re-consecration of Indrani Naga deva held with grand religious rituals

Udupi, Apr 8: As part of the re-consecration (Punaha Pratishta) and Brahmakalashotsava celebrations of Sri Panchadurga Parameshwari Temple near Indrani, along with Sri Mukhyaprana Deva and Sri Nagadeva, a series of elaborate religious rituals were performed on Tuesday April 7 morning with great devotion.

The ceremonies began with the Pratishta Homa, followed by the auspicious re-installation of Sri Nagadevaru at the Vrishabha Lagna Muhurat. The rituals also included Pradhana Homa, Sarpatraya Homa, Kushmanda Homa, Ashlesha Bali, 49 (Ekona Panchashat) Kalasha Aradhane, Panchamruta Kalasabhishekam, Mahapooja, Vatu Aradhane, and other sacred proceedings.

The religious rites were conducted under the guidance of Vedic scholar Puttur Srinivasa Tantri, in the presence of chief priest Gopalakrishna Upadhyaya.

Thousands of devotees visited the temple and had darshan of Sri Panchadurga Parameshwari, Sri Mukhyaprana Deva, and Sri Nagadeva. A mass anna santarpana was organized in the afternoon at the temple premises, where a large number of devotees participated.

Cultural programs added vibrancy to the celebrations. At 4.30 pm, a classical dance programme. Later in the evening at 7.30 pm, the renowned Yakshanidhi Moodbidri troupe along with Yuva Mela staged the Yakshagana performance “Veeramani Kalaga”, captivating the audience.

Prominent members present on the occasion included Temple Renovation Committee president Bhoopathi Shetty, Brahmakalashotsava Committee president B Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Temple Management Committee president B Kushal Shetty, along with office-bearers, committee members, organizers, and a large gathering of devotees.
