Karkala, Feb 28: The Alumni Association of Belman Government Junior College has announced a grand alumni reunion titled ‘Sneha Sethu’, bringing together former students of both the college and high school sections on Sunday, March 1, at the college grounds.
Addressing a press conference at the Karkala Press Bhavan on Wednesday, Alumni Association general secretary Sarvajna Tantri said that the day-long event will begin with a grand procession at 9 am from the Belman Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Sangha auditorium to the college grounds. The formal inaugural ceremony will follow, under the leadership of Alumni Association president Suhas Hegde Nandalike.



The event will be graced by several distinguished alumni and dignitaries including retired lecturer Prof Dr Jayaram Hegde, Mumbai-based entrepreneur Ratnakar Shetty Kapikere, parish priest of St Joseph’s Church Belman Fr Frederick Mascarenhas, senior physician Dr Devadas Kamath, Ramachandra Acharya Moodbidri, Shambhu Shetty Karwar, Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld media, Raghupathi Rao and Sadananda L Shetty, among others.
On the occasion, senior retired lecturers Jayant Rao Pilar and Nilaya Achar will be honoured with ‘Guru Vandana’ in recognition of their invaluable service to the institution and generations of students.
Interactive segments such as ‘Chavadi Charche’ (open alumni discussion) and ‘Nenapina Angala’ (a special session by women alumni) will provide an opportunity for former students to reconnect, relive memories, and strengthen bonds.
The cultural programme promises to add vibrancy to the reunion, with performances by the Bhargavi Nritya Kala Team from Udupi, including dance presentations, ‘Sundara Bangadi’ and ‘Kuselda Koota’. The valedictory ceremony is scheduled to commence at 5 pm.
Alumni Association member Alvin Neri Pinto was also present at the press meet.
Speaking to Daijiworld.com, Sarvajna Tantri expressed happiness over the overwhelming response to the reunion call. “It is encouraging to see a large number of former students, irrespective of age and batch, responding enthusiastically. Alumni from across the globe are expected to participate in this first-ever mega reunion. We hope this event will pave the way for many more such gatherings in the future,” he said.
He added that preparations are in full swing and the Government Junior College grounds are fully geared up to host the memorable day-long celebration of friendship, gratitude and togetherness.
