Mangaluru: Two-wheeler rider dies on spot in lorry collision at Panambur

Mangaluru, Feb 27: A two-wheeler rider was killed on the spot after being hit by a lorry in front of the Indian Oil petrol pump in Panambur on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Shivadas Ganapati Nayak, a native of Ankola taluk in Uttara Kannada district, who was currently residing in a rented house in Bejai, Mangaluru.

According to police sources, Shivadas was employed at a pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Baikampady. The accident occurred while he was returning home after completing his work shift. It is reported that a lorry, travelling in the same direction, rammed into his bike from behind. Due to the impact, he was pulled under the rear wheels of the heavy vehicle and died instantly.

Mangaluru North traffic inspector Shivakumar M and his team visited the spot to conduct an inspection. The police have registered a case and initiated further legal proceedings regarding the mishap.
