Udupi, Feb 23: Girija Groups, known across coastal Karnataka for its established presence in surgical supplies through Girija Surgicals, has now diversified into the hotel industry with ‘Manpasand’ by Shambhavi, under the leadership of Ravindra Shetty. The newly refurbished restaurant boasts a refreshed interior, experienced chefs, expanded menu offerings, and enhanced customer services aimed at delivering a wholesome family dining experience.

The renovated multi-cuisine family restaurant ‘Manpasand’ by Shambhavi was inaugurated at Shambhavi Fortune, near the old KSRTC bus stop in Udupi, on February 22, by Purushottam Shetty of Ujwal Developers, who cut the ribbon along with other dignitaries, marking the formal opening. The programme was then followed by a formal event, which commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais.

Speaking on the occasion, Walter Nandalike, founder and managing director of Daijiworld media, said that Ravindra Shetty had stepped into a new business, diversifying from hospital to hospitality. “A wise businessman does not limit himself to a single field but explores new avenues. Ravindra Shetty has demonstrated that vision by moving from healthcare into hospitality. In the restaurant industry, the contribution of the staff and the chef is crucial. With quality service, delicious food, and a welcoming ambience, I am confident this venture will be successful,” he said, extending his best wishes and expressing hope that more such hotels would be launched in the future.

Aravinda Bolar, renowned actor, said the hotel had started with an appealing name, ‘Manpasand’. Referring to the goodwill earned by Girija Surgicals, he pointed out that consistent and dedicated service had made the brand popular everywhere. “The hotel has begun with a beautiful name, ‘Manpasand’. Just as Girija Surgicals became well-known through its quality service, this venture too will succeed by treating customers and staff with care and respect. Winning people’s hearts is not easy. For me, my fans are like God; in the same way, for a hotel business, customers are God. The food served here should not only satisfy hunger but also touch the heart. A person may not feel content with many things in life, but good food always brings satisfaction. I wholeheartedly wish this business great success,” he said.

MLA Yashpal Suvarna, in his address, said that Ravindra Shetty had earned remarkable success through Girija Surgicals and had now ventured into the hotel industry. “Ravindra Shetty has built a strong reputation through Girija Surgicals and has now taken a new step into the hospitality sector. I congratulate him on this occasion and wish him greater success in the days ahead. Nothing is impossible with hard work, and Ravindra’s journey itself is proof that dedication and perseverance lead to success,” he said.

Talluru Shivaram Shetty, president of the Karnataka State Yakshagana Academy, observed that the hotel business is not easy and requires consistent quality and tasty food to attract customers. He expressed confidence that the hotel would grow and expand further.

Jayakar Shetty Indrali, president of Badagabettu Credit Cooperative Society, said he had seen Ravindra Shetty closely and appreciated his self-confidence, down-to-earth personality, and commitment to quality service. He wished success for the new hospitality venture.

Kediyoor Uday Kumar Shetty, convener, BJP Mangaluru division, said success always waits for those who take bold steps forward. He congratulated the team and noted that the hotel business in Udupi carries its own brand value.

Walter Nandalike and Aravind Bolar were felicitated on the occasion.

‘Manpasand’ by Shambhavi has been designed as a complete family restaurant, offering suitable party spaces for gatherings of 10, 50, 100, and up to 150 guests. The hotel also features a special seafood section, a separate cocktail and mocktail counter, newly introduced traditional-flavoured chicken varieties, and added air-conditioned comfort to enhance the dining experience. A unique attraction is the display of fresh fish, allowing customers to select their preferred choice before preparation.

The event commenced with an invocation rendered by Dvisha Niranjan. Ravindra Shetty Kadekar of Girija Group welcomed the gathering and expressed gratitude to all those who supported the new venture. Raghavendra Prabhu Karval compered the event.
