Udupi: Fifth arrest made in naval ship secret information leak case

Udupi, Feb 17: In connection with a case registered at the Malpe police station, police have arrested a fifth accused for allegedly transmitting confidential information related to naval ships.

The arrested accused has been identified as Alif Islam (21), son of the late Ijazul Islam. While originally a resident of Bargariya village in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, he was presently residing in a rented house at Kokilakatta, Marayu village, Munnar, in the Idukki district of Kerala.

Police arrested the accused on February 16, 2026. He was produced before the jurisdictional court on February 17 and has been remanded to judicial custody until February 21, 2026.

Police sources stated that the accused is suspected to be a Bangladeshi national. As the inquiry is ongoing, necessary sections of the law will be added in due course.
