Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Feb 14: In view of the four-laning development work of the road connecting Pumpwell Circle and Karavali Junction, the Mangaluru city police have announced major traffic diversions starting from February 15 to June 15.

The construction work is expected to last for four months. To facilitate smooth execution and manage vehicular density, the stretch from Pumpwell Circle to Kankanady Old Road and Kankanady Junction (entry to the city), and the bypass road from Karavali Junction to Pumpwell Circle (exit from the city), have been temporarily converted into one-way stretches.

New traffic regulations:

  • Pumpwell to Karavali Junction: Direct movement of vehicles from Pumpwell Junction to Karavali Junction has been restricted. Instead, vehicles must proceed via the Kankanady Old Road.

  • Entry from Talapady/Thokkottu: All vehicles entering Mangaluru city from the Talapady and Thokkottu side must take alternative routes via Mahakalipadpu, Morgan’s Gate, Kotichennaya Circle, or Mangaladevi.

  • Heavy vehicles and KSRTC buses from BC Road: Heavy vehicles and KSRTC buses heading towards Lalbagh from the BC Road side must travel via Padil Junction toward Nanthoor.

  • Buses from Kerala/Kasargod: KSRTC buses and heavy vehicles arriving from Kerala and Kasargod towards Karavali must proceed from Pumpwell Junction toward Nanthoor.

  • City Outward Traffic: Vehicles moving from the inner city via Karavali Junction towards Pumpwell will continue to follow their existing routes.

No Parking Zones: To prevent congestion, the police have strictly prohibited parking on both sides of the following roads:

  • Kankanady Junction – Pumpwell Road (Kankanady Old Road)

  • Karavali – Kankanady Road

  • Kankanady – Falnir Highland Hospital Road

  • Karavali – Balmatta Road

  • Kankanady Bypass Road

The traffic police have requested the general public to cooperate with the department and use the designated alternative routes to avoid inconvenience during the project period.
