Udupi, Feb 14: In a humanitarian gesture, social worker Vishu Shetty Ambalpady has rescued an elderly man who had been languishing at the city bus stand for the past ten days.

The individual, identified as Shambhu Poojary (65), was found spending both day and night at the bus stand in a helpless condition. Upon being rescued, he revealed that he had left his home following family disputes.

Recognizing the man's plight, Vishu Shetty shifted him to the 'Kanasina Mane' ashram in Udyavar for care and shelter.

The authorities have requested relatives of the senior citizen to contact the Senior Citizens Helpline or the Kanasina Mane ashram in Udyavar for further information.
