NSUI Udupi vice-president assaulted with sword-like weapon, case registered

Udupi, Feb 1: A case has been registered at Udupi Town police station following an alleged assault on NSUI Udupi Vice-President Sharath Kunder (25).

According to the complaint, Sharath Kunder visited a hotel in Manipal on January 30 at around 9 pm along with his friends. A verbal dispute reportedly broke out after accidental physical contact with one of the accused at the hotel.

Later, while returning home, Sharath Kunder received a phone call from Akshath Pai, asking him to come to PPC Cross to discuss the matter. When Sharath Kunder and his friends reached the spot at around 11.30 pm, a group of accused persons arrived in two vehicles and allegedly launched an attack.

The accused allegedly assaulted Sharath Kunder using a sword-like weapon and an iron chair, reportedly with the intention to kill. He sustained bleeding injuries to his right hand, middle finger, and left wrist while attempting to protect himself. The complaint also states that the accused issued life threats during the assault.

Udupi Town police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
