Mangaluru, Jan 22: The inauguration ceremony of the Bag-Making Training Centre was held on January 22 from 11 am to 1:30 pm.
Dignitaries present on the dais were: Fr Robert D'Mello, parish priest, St Sebastian Church, Soraba; Suresh, senior lecturer, Canara Bank Training Institute, Holaluru; Sr Lenita, administrator, Amar Jyothi PU College, Soraba; Sr Joel, director, Sneha Jyothi Social Service Centre, Soraba; Manjunath, programme officer, Canara Grameena Self-Employment Training Centre, Kolaluru.




















The programme began with a prayer by Sumana. Annapurna welcomed the gathering. Harshita proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Arpita. Sharing of experiences was done by Anuradha and Ashwini.
A total of 16 students participated in the programme.
Women shoulder the major responsibility of managing their families and ensuring the education of their children while engaging tirelessly in daily work. Economic self-reliance empowers women to think more socially and live with dignity. Highlighting this, Fr Robert D'Mello encouraged the participants to make use of the training facilities available at Sneha Jyothi Centre and become self-employed, respected members of society.
Suresh, senior lecturer from the Canara Grameena Self-Employment Training Centre, spoke about women’s commitment, interest, effective time management, and dedication in family management and professional work. He emphasized that women should think independently and use their decision-making abilities to lead a dignified and value-based life.
Sr Joel, director of the institution, explained the various activities organized for women and the support systems available to promote self-reliance.
Sr Lenita distributed the identity cards to the trainees and spoke on the importance of learning and self-reliance in women’s lives.
Trainees Anuradha and Ashwini shared their experiences, stating that this training is a valuable opportunity for them. They expressed their enthusiasm to learn well and engage in income-generating activities, and appreciated the efforts of the institution and the trainers.
Manjappa spoke about the journey of the institution so far and shared information on future programmes planned for the development of youth, women, and children, including education awareness and health awareness initiatives.
Annapurna welcomed the gathering, Harshita proposed the vote of thanks, and Arpita efficiently compered the programme.
A total of 16 rural women from Soraba Taluk have enrolled in this six-month training programme, where they will receive training in basic tailoring, Rexine bag making, and marketing skills.
