Mangaluru, Jan 13: International Airport Limited (MIAL), in association with the Mangaluru City Traffic Police, organized a road safety awareness programme as part of National Road Safety Month at the Ekalavya Training Hall of the airport on January 13.

The programme was inaugurated by Binu Varghese, chief airport officer, and Mangaluru International Airport. Addressing the gathering, he stressed the importance of road safety and responsible behavior while using public roads.

Shivakumar Muggalli, police inspector, Mangaluru City North Traffic Police Station, who was the resource person for the programme, educated the participants on the necessity of following traffic rules at all times to prevent road accidents and save lives.

As part of the awareness initiative, a role play highlighting the dangers faced by pillion riders travelling on two-wheelers without helmets was staged. A rapid-fire online quiz on traffic rules was also conducted, which witnessed active participation from the attendees.

The programme concluded with the administration of a road safety pledge, urging all participants to compulsorily wear helmets while riding two-wheelers and to adhere strictly to traffic regulations.
