Mangaluru, Dec 27: With lifestyle diseases emerging as a silent epidemic of the modern age, a new wellness centre focusing on naturopathy and yoga has been established at Father Muller Homeopathic Hospital, Deralakatte, with the objective of promoting holistic health and preventive care.
Lifestyle diseases, also known as non-communicable diseases, are largely linked to unhealthy habits, sedentary behaviour, poor diet and stress. Conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, obesity and infertility are increasingly affecting people across age groups. Health experts emphasise that many of these conditions are preventable through behavioural changes and holistic approaches.

Naturopathy, which literally means a return to nature, is based on the principle that the body has an inherent ability to heal itself when supported appropriately. It treats the individual as a whole — body, mind and spirit — using natural elements such as earth, water, fire, air and space. Its preventive, non-invasive and drugless methods have gained renewed relevance in today’s fast-paced lifestyle.
Yoga, derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’, meaning union, focuses on harmonising the body and mind. Yoga philosophy views stress and mental disturbances as root causes of many ailments. Through practices such as asanas, pranayama, kriyas, relaxation and mindfulness, yoga therapy supports physical, mental and emotional wellbeing by reducing mental fluctuations and restoring balance.
Guided by the motto ‘Heal and Comfort’, the newly launched wellness centre aims to provide integrated care that goes beyond symptom management to restore overall harmony in the body and mind.
The centre offers a wide range of services including diet and nutrition counselling, yoga therapy, hydrotherapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, cupping, physiotherapy, lifestyle and stress management programmes, relaxation therapies, holistic health education and preventive care initiatives.
Special wellness programmes will be conducted during the following periods:
• January 18 to January 28
• February 22 to March 4
• March 8 to March 18
Those interested in enrolling or seeking more information can contact 9459456633 or 0824 2203901.
The initiative aims to encourage people to adopt natural and sustainable healthcare practices, reinforcing the belief that when lifestyle aligns with natural medicine, it adds not just years to life, but life to years.
