Mangaluru, Dec 23: Witty lines, humorous couplets and catchy messages are commonly seen on auto-rickshaws and cabs, but a car driver in Mangaluru has caught the attention of netizens by creatively highlighting his financial situation through a sticker on his car, making it a subject of widespread online amusement.
Usually, vehicles carry messages such as ‘Maintain Distance’ on their rear side. However, an Alto car driver in Mangaluru has taken a different approach by pasting a sticker that reads, in essence, ‘Keep Distance, EMI Pending’. The message, which combines road safety with personal financial concerns, has amused many social media users. While some joked about the driver’s situation, others commented that one cannot truly understand another person’s struggles, and a few said they had never come across such a message before.

The video was shared on Instagram by a user. It shows a Maruti Suzuki Alto moving amid traffic on Circuit House Road in Mangaluru. The sticker on the rear of the car urges motorists to keep their distance, subtly referring to the burden of pending EMIs. The line reflects both the concern of protecting the vehicle from accidents and the monthly pressure of loan repayments. Netizens praised the driver’s cleverness, with some commenting that it was like ‘hitting two birds with one stone’.
Since being posted on Instagram, the video has garnered over 54 million views and more than 300,000 likes. One user commented that while youngsters who spend time partying and visiting pubs may find it funny, men juggling work, family, children and household responsibilities would truly understand the pain behind the humour. Others described it as ‘a loyal bank customer’ and ‘the best slogan seen so far’.
The sticker on this Mangaluru Alto car reflects the realities of middle-class life, portraying both the burden of loans and a sharp sense of humour at the same time.
