Mangaluru, Dec 19: A case has been registered at the Mangaluru Rural police station following the disappearance of seven inmates from the beggars’ shelter home at Pacchanady village on the outskirts of the city.
According to the complaint, around 1.30 am on Thursday, seven persons staying in Room No 3 of the camp allegedly escaped after breaking the iron bars of a window.

The missing persons have been identified as Devaraju (37), about 5.2 feet tall, round-faced and conversant in Kannada; Durgabai (56), about 5 feet tall, round-faced and conversant in Hindi; Mahanthesh (37), about 5.4 feet tall, long-faced and conversant in Kannada; Binu TJ (42), about 5.6 feet tall, round-faced and conversant in Malayalam; Sharanappahalappa Hosamani (37), about 5.6 feet tall, long-faced and conversant in Kannada; Hiremallanageri Gururaj (38), about 5.5 feet tall, round-faced and conversant in Kannada; and Prabhu (37), about 5.7 feet tall, thin-faced and conversant in Kannada.
Police have launched a search operation and are investigating the circumstances under which the inmates escaped from the relief centre.
