Bantwal, Dec 14: Bantwal Rural police have arrested two persons for allegedly attempting to sell ganja and seized 810 gram of the prohibited narcotic substance near the national highway at Hanumanagar in Thumbe village on December 13 evening.
Acting on specific information that ganja was being illegally stocked for sale, police sub-inspector Manjunath T of Bantwal Rural police station, along with his staff, rushed to the spot and conducted a raid. During the operation, two persons were found standing suspiciously near a car bearing registration number KA-19-MN-3664 and an autorickshaw bearing registration number KA-19-AE-0166 in an isolated area along the highway.

On being questioned, the accused were identified as Sameer (31), a resident of Thumbe, Bantwal, and Mohammed Aseef (35), a resident near Gudde in Bantwal. During interrogation, they reportedly admitted that they were attempting to sell ganja to make quick money.
A search of the vehicles led to the recovery of 450 gram of ganja from the car and 360 gram from the autorickshaw. The police seized both vehicles along with the total 810 gram of ganja.
A case has been registered at Bantwal Rural police station under Crime No 183/2025, Sections 8(c) and 20(b)(ii)(a) of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
