Bantwal youth dies in road mishap near Bengaluru’s Kudlu Gate

Bengaluru, Dec 9: A youth from Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district was killed in a road accident near Bengaluru’s Kudlu Gate on Tuesday afternoon, after a goods vehicle allegedly rammed into the motorbike he was travelling on.

The deceased has been identified as Muhammad Haris (34), a resident of Allipade near Ajilamogaru in Bantwal taluk. Haris, who worked as a mechanic with an AC company in Bengaluru, was on his way to work with a colleague when the speeding vehicle struck them from behind.

The impact of the collision left Haris fatally injured, and he died on the spot, sources said. His pillion-riding colleague sustained serious injuries in the crash.

Family members said Haris had been married only six months ago, adding to the shock in his hometown.

HSR Traffic police have registered a case and begun investigation. Haris’s body has been placed at the St John’s Hospital mortuary in Koramangala, and it will be sent to Bantwal after the post-mortem.

The injured pillion rider, who is originally from Odisha, is currently being treated in the hospital’s intensive care unit, according to officials.
