Cupertino, Nov 25: Tech giant Apple has initiated layoffs across parts of its sales organisation, aiming to strengthen customer engagement and streamline operations. The company clarified that only a small number of roles have been affected and that impacted employees will have the opportunity to apply for other positions within Apple.
A spokesperson told Reuters that Apple continues to hire across several divisions, even as it restructures its customer-facing teams.

According to a Bloomberg report, the layoffs include account managers handling major corporate clients, educational institutions, and government agencies. Staff who run Apple’s high-level briefing centres — venues used to host strategic meetings and product demonstrations for large customers — were also among those impacted.
One of the most affected units was the government sales team, which liaises with agencies such as the US Defense Department and the Justice Department. Bloomberg noted that the team had already been facing challenges due to the recent 43-day US government shutdown and budget cuts implemented by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The restructuring comes amid a broader trend of layoffs in the tech and telecom sectors. In recent weeks, companies including Verizon, Synopsys, and IBM have announced job reductions as part of cost optimisation and organisational overhauls.
Despite the cuts, Apple emphasised that its long-term strategy remains focused on improving customer engagement, deepening enterprise partnerships, and enhancing support for institutional clients.
