UI GreenMetric University Rankings: Mangalore varsity ranks third in India

Mangaluru, Jan 17: Mangalore University has secured the third position in India in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025 released by an Indonesian university. Notably, the university has ranked first in Karnataka and 127th globally.

A total of 100 universities from India and 1,745 institutions from 105 countries participated in the rankings. The UI GreenMetric ranking is based on green campus initiatives and environmental sustainability. The rankings are awarded based on seven parameters that assess a university’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability, under which Mangalore University achieved the third rank in the country.

Speaking to the media, Mangalore University vice-chancellor Prof P L Dharma said that the university has secured first place in India in green setting and infrastructure. It has ranked fourth nationally in energy and climate change, sixth in waste management, sixth in water management, tenth in education and research, and eleventh in transportation systems.

He attributed the achievement to the continuous cooperation and efforts of all professors, research scholars, and students of the university, which enabled it to attain such a high ranking.
