Mangaluru, Jan 17: The 9th ONGC-MRPL International Kite Festival, was inaugurated at Tannirbhavi Blue Bay beach as part of the Karavali Utsava celebrations on January 17.
The two-day festival drew kite lovers and families from across the region and beyond.
Karnataka Assembly Speaker U T Khader and MLC Ivan D’Souza were present at the inauguration of the International Kite Festival.









The festival brought together 62 skilled kite flyers, including 32 from various Indian states and 30 international participants from countries such as the UK, Germany, Italy, Thailand, and others. Flyers displayed a spectacular array of kites — from traditional designs and artistic appliqué pieces to inflatable and high-performance quad-line sport kites — much to the delight of spectators.
Overall, the International Kite Festival 2026 has once again transformed Tannirbhavi beach into a vibrant canvas of colour and cultural celebration, reinforcing Mangaluru’s reputation as a cherished hub for community events and creative outdoor fun.
