Bantwal, Nov 17: Police arrested one person on charges of illegal cattle slaughter after conducting a raid at Arala village in Bantwal taluk on November 16.
The arrested accused has been identified as Mayyaddi, 57, a resident of Arala. Two other accused managed to flee from the spot.

Acting on credible information that cattle were being slaughtered and meat was being processed in a shed within a house compound, Bantwal rural police carried out the raid. Three individuals were reportedly found preparing meat at the location.
Police rescued three cows and a calf from the shed and seized around 150 kg of meat from the spot.
A case has been registered at Bantwal rural police station.
Police said the arrested accused will be produced before the court, while efforts are underway to trace the absconding suspects.
Since the accused were allegedly slaughtering cattle in a house shed without a licence, the Bantwal rural police have seized the house compound and shed, and submitted a report recommending attachment to the Mangaluru assistant commissioner and sub-divisional magistrate, officials added.
