Pune, Nov 5: The State Election Commission has announced elections for 14 municipal councils and 3 nagar panchayats in Pune district. According to the official notification, the polls will be conducted under a two- and three-member ward system. Notably, the newly formed Fursungi-Uruli Devachi Municipal Council, along with Manchar and Malegaon Nagar Panchayats, will go to the polls for the first time. In these local body elections, municipal chairpersons will be elected directly by the voters.
With the election code of conduct now in force, voting will take place across 730 polling booths in the district. District Collector Jitendra Dudi shared details of the election process during a press conference.

Among the 14 municipal councils, Baramati, Lonavala, Chakan, Alandi, and Rajgurunagar will follow the three-member ward system, while the remaining nine councils will adopt the two-member system. There are a total of 347 wards across the 14 municipal councils and 51 wards in the three nagar panchayats.
As per the final electoral roll dated July 1, 2025, there are 5,79,199 registered voters in the municipal council areas and 55,741 voters in the nagar panchayat areas, bringing the total voter count in the district to 6,34,940.
A total of 730 polling stations will be set up, with arrangements for approximately 900 to 1,000 voters per station in municipal council areas and 1,000 to 1,100 voters per station in nagar panchayat areas. The final electoral rolls were completed on October 31, and the booth-wise final lists will be published on November 7.
District Collector Dudi also informed that among the 14 municipal councils, Baramati is classified as ‘A’ category, while Lonavala, Daund, Chakan, Talegaon Dabhade, and Fursungi-Uruli Devachi fall under ‘B’ category. The remaining municipal councils are categorized as ‘C’.
In accordance with the State Election Commission’s directives, six sub-divisional officers will serve as election officers for the respective councils. For the ‘C’ category councils and all nagar panchayats, one tahsildar each will act as the election officer, while the chief officers will serve as assistant election officers.
The district administration has also taken key measures to ensure smooth and transparent polling, including security arrangements and monitoring across all 730 booths.
