Bantwal: Youth goes missing after leaving for work

Bantwal, Feb 19: A 34-year-old youth from Karpe village has been reported missing after he failed to return home after going to work and later informing family members that he would attend a Yakshagana performance.

The missing person has been identified as Nishanth Shetty (34), a resident of Karpe village.

According to the complaint lodged by his family, Nishanth had left home at around 7 am on February 16 along with his neighbour Rajesh to Uppir to de-husk arecanut. Later in the evening, he reportedly called his relative Nithin Shetty and informed that he would attend a Yakshagana programme and return home by the evening of February 17.

However, when he did not return home by the said time, family members tried contacting him on his mobile phone, which was found switched off.

Despite searching for him at various places and checking with relatives and acquaintances, his whereabouts remain unknown. He has neither returned home nor visited any relatives’ houses, the complaint stated.

Based on the complaint, a case has been registered at the Bantwal Rural Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
