Coastal Karnataka gets rain reprieve as IMD rules out heavy downpour; winter chill sets in

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Nov 8: Coastal Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts are set to get a much-needed respite from the recent spell of unseasonal and cyclone-induced heavy rainfall, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) ruling out heavy rain warnings across the state.

According to the latest forecast, isolated parts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada may receive light showers, while Uttara Kannada is expected to remain dry. The weakening of the cyclonic system over the Bay of Bengal has also contributed to a decline in rainfall activity across Karnataka, paving the way for cooler weather.

The changing weather pattern is expected to bring a noticeable chill, particularly during the early morning and night hours. However, Bengaluru and some parts of South Interior Karnataka may continue to experience cloudy conditions and isolated spells of rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Bengaluru to witness cool weather, evening showers likely

Bengaluru is expected to experience pleasant and relatively cool weather over the next 24 hours.

Rain forecast: Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural districts may receive moderate rain or light showers accompanied by thunderstorms during the evening or night.

Temperature: The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 28°C, while the minimum is expected to remain around 20°C. Residents can expect a noticeable chill during the early morning and night hours.

Malnad and South Interior Karnataka may receive showers

The IMD has indicated the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning in isolated parts of the state. The following districts are likely to receive moderate rainfall or light showers.

Malnad region: Isolated places in Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Kodagu districts are likely to receive moderate rainfall.

South Interior Karnataka: Light showers are possible in Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Ramanagara, Kolar and Ballari districts.

Meanwhile, dry weather is expected to prevail in Tumakuru, Chitradurga, Davanagere and Chikkaballapur districts.

North Karnataka to remain dry as rainfall weakens

The intensity of rainfall has considerably reduced across North Karnataka, with predominantly dry weather expected in Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Bidar, Raichur, Koppal and Kalaburagi districts.

Although rain is unlikely, early mornings are expected to become increasingly chilly, with temperatures likely to dip further.

Weather forecast

The influence of the cyclonic system over the Bay of Bengal has weakened considerably, paving the way for a gradual reduction in rainfall across Karnataka. Rain activity is expected to decline further over the coming days.

From the second week of November, winter conditions are likely to become more pronounced across the state, with temperatures expected to fall further. The changing weather pattern is set to bring cooler conditions, particularly during the early morning and night hours.

With the spell of unseasonal rain gradually retreating, Karnataka is now preparing for the onset of the winter chill.
