Puttur, Nov 4: In a tragic turn of events, a man who was seriously injured in a road accident near Mura on the Mani–Mysuru National Highway four months ago, succumbed to his injuries on November 3 — just a month after his daughter, who was also injured in the same accident, passed away.
The accident occurred on May 27 when a private bus collided with a car. In the mishap, Andepuni Eshwar Bhatt’s daughter, Apoorva (35), had suffered grievous injuries and passed away on October 7 while undergoing treatment. Her father, Eshwar Bhatt (75), who had also sustained serious injuries, succumbed at a hospital in Puttur on Sunday, November 3.

On the day of the accident, Eshwar Bhatt and his daughter Apoorva were travelling home in their WagonR car from Puttur town when a private bus, heading from Puttur to Mangaluru, rammed into their vehicle near Mura. Both sustained severe injuries, while Apoorva’s three-year-old daughter escaped with minor injuries. The father and daughter were admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru, where Bhatt later showed signs of recovery and was shifted to Puttur Hospital. However, Apoorva had succumbed to her injuries during that time.
It may be recalled, on May 27, the Bhatt family had gathered at their residence to observe the shraddha ceremony of Eshwar Bhatt’s father, Govinda Bhatt. Apoorva and her daughter had travelled from Bengaluru to Puttur by a private bus to attend the ritual. As the same bus was headed towards Vittal, they alighted at Mura Junction, where Eshwar Bhatt arrived in his car to pick them up. Tragically, while on their way home, the accident occurred.
The deceased, Eshwar Bhatt, is survived by his wife and son.
