Kochi, Oct 23: The much-awaited Mammootty-Vinayakan starrer ‘Kalamkaval’ has completed its censor formalities, securing a U/A 16+ certificate from the board. The announcement was made on Wednesday through Mammootty’s production house on social media, along with a striking new poster of the film.

Sharing the update, the makers wrote, “Truth bleeds. Silence breaks. #Kalamkaval Censored with U/A 16+ Certificate!! In Cinemas Soon.” Although the official release date is yet to be revealed, the certification suggests that the film may hit theatres sooner than expected.

Directed by Jithin K Jose, who earlier penned the story for Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Kurup’, Kalamkaval marks his directorial debut. The film is expected to explore a moral and psychological conflict between Mammootty and Vinayakan, promising an intense face-off between the two powerhouse performers.

The screenplay is co-written by Jithin K Jose and Jishnu Sreekumar, with Faisal Ali handling cinematography, Praveen Prabhakar overseeing editing, and Mujeeb Majeed composing the music.

Meanwhile, Mammootty, who recently returned to sets after a short medical break, is currently shooting for Mahesh Narayanan’s espionage thriller ‘Patriot’ in the UK. A behind-the-scenes video from the London schedule has gone viral, featuring the actor in a stylish black overcoat, grey scarf, and dark sunglasses, exuding his trademark charisma.

The film, Patriot, brings together Mammootty and Mohanlal after a long gap and also stars Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Revathy, and Darshana Rajendran in key roles. The teaser, unveiled recently, has received an overwhelming response from fans.
