Udupi, Oct 21: In connection with the recent suicide of Abhishek Acharya at a lodge in Belman, Karkala, the mobile phone of the deceased has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for detailed examination, informed district superintendent of police (SP) Hariram Shankar.

“The investigation team has questioned the accused based on phone data, bank transactions, and chat records. The digital devices of the accused have also been examined. Additionally, the deceased’s friends, relatives, and close associates have been interrogated,” the SP stated.

“So far, the investigation has found no evidence to suggest a honeytrap. No obscene photos or videos were found on the accused woman’s phone, nor has it been found that she sent any such videos to anyone,” he clarified.

“In September, the money transferred by Abhishek to the accused woman was returned to him on the same day. Prior to his death, Abhishek had reportedly shared the accused woman’s obscene videos in a WhatsApp group of his hospital colleagues. The woman had then warned him that she would file a police complaint against him,” he added.

“The videos currently circulating on social media were recorded by a friend of the accused woman, who had sent them privately to her via WhatsApp. However, Abhishek allegedly gained access to her WhatsApp and viewed those videos,” the SP revealed.

“The reason behind recording the dress-change video is being investigated, along with whether the video was misused. The handwriting in Abhishek’s death note is also being examined. The investigation into the case is ongoing,” he said.
