Udupi, Oct 17: The Student Council and the Association of Student Volunteers (ASV) were formally inaugurated at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management on October 15.
Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal, CEO of the Sode Group of Institutions, presided over the programme. Dr Nagaraj Bhat, Dean (academics) and Dr Deepika, Student Welfare Officer, were present on the dais.


The event began with the introduction of the newly elected Student Council members to the gathering. An oath-taking ceremony followed, instilling a sense of responsibility and commitment among the members. Akshatha Rao from the Department of Electronics and Communication elaborated on the structure, objectives, and goals of ASV. The Association of Student Volunteers (ASV) was then formally inaugurated by the CEO, Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal.
Pranith Shetty, president of the Student Council, assured that the team would work collaboratively to organize technical, cultural, and sports events, aiming at the holistic development of every student. He also expressed the council's commitment to enhancing the visibility and reputation of the institution.
In his address, Dr Nagaraj Bhat emphasised that leadership is not just about holding a position, but about taking responsibility. He urged the council members to work together in unity and with integrity for the welfare of the student community.
Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal, in his presidential address, encouraged students to channel their energy positively within the campus. He emphasised the importance of seizing opportunities for both personal growth and institutional development. He also announced new initiatives introduced in the college, including the student activity centre, incubation centre, centre for product development, and the Association of Student Volunteers—all aimed at enhancing student engagement and innovation. He concluded his address by quoting a modified version of a thought by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Veerendra Nayari, general secretary of the Student Council.
The event was smoothly compered by Sumayya Riaz, a final-year student from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
Deans, HoDs, faculty, staff and students of SMVITM were present for the programme.
