Sirmaur, Sep 14: Four patients have tested positive for H1N1, commonly known as swine flu, at the Paonta Sahib Civil Hospital in Sirmaur district within a span of four days. Prompted by the development, the hospital authorities have intensified surveillance and shifted all affected patients to the isolation ward.

According to hospital sources, the four patients had reported with symptoms including fever, cough, and difficulty in breathing. Suspecting an influenza infection, doctors collected their samples for examination, which subsequently returned positive for H1N1.

As a precautionary measure, all four patients were immediately shifted from the general ward to the isolation facility. Their condition is reported to be stable, and they are currently under close medical observation.

In light of the situation, the hospital management has stepped up monitoring of other patients and healthcare personnel to prevent any possible transmission of the infection. Necessary precautions and protocols have been advised for medical staff while attending to patients displaying influenza-like symptoms.

Confirming the development, Dr AV Raghav, Medical Officer In-charge of Civil Hospital, stated that four patients had tested positive for H1N1 and were accordingly moved to the isolation ward. He added that the patients are undergoing treatment and their condition is being closely monitored.

Meanwhile, Sirmaur Chief Medical Officer Dr Rakesh Pratap has advised people experiencing persistent fever, cough, sore throat, or difficulty in breathing to seek medical attention without delay. He specifically urged elderly people, young children, and individuals with underlying health conditions to take extra precautions.
