St Agnes College hosts webinar on 'Opportunities in defence services for psychology students'

Mangaluru, Oct 15: The Navachethana Wellness Centre, in collaboration with PSYNERGY (PG Psychology Forum) of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organized a webinar on the theme “Serving the Nation: Opportunities in defence services for psychology students” on September 25, via Google Meet.

Capt (Dr) Sunaina Singh, assistant professor at Kamla Nehru College, University of Delhi, was the resource person who shared valuable insights from her distinguished experience as a defence officer and academician.

Capt (Dr) Sunaina Singh shed light on the pivotal role of psychology in the armed forces, exploring career avenues for graduates in areas such as counselling, selection boards, performance assessment, and mental health support within the military framework. Her session was both informative and inspiring, motivating students to pursue fulfilling careers that intersect psychology and national service.

Dr Manju P Emmanuel, counsellor at Navachethana Wellness Centre and Programme Coordinator, set the tone for the event with a thought-provoking welcome address, highlighting the significance of career awareness in psychology.

The webinar saw an impressive turnout of around 70 participants, comprising faculty and students from various institutions, who actively participated in the discussion. Special thanks to Donna Renny, student coordinator, for hosting the program with finesse, and Dr Kavya Shree, dean of PG Studies, for delivering the vote of thanks and acknowledging the resource person's and organizers' efforts.

The webinar proved to be a resounding success, broadening students' horizons on diverse career opportunities in the defence sector for psychology professionals.
