Mangaluru, Oct 9: The 24-hour international level hackathon SRINATHON 2.0, organized by the Srinivas Students Open-Source Community (SSOSC) and NEXUS-SIT, was inaugurated with great enthusiasm at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru. The event witnessed the participation of over 1000 enthusiastic students, including teams from abroad, making it a truly global platform for innovation and collaboration.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, honourable chancellor of Srinivas University and president of the function, and Dr Kiran Rajanna, chairman of Ethnotech Academy, who was the chief guest for the event.

Welcoming the gathering, Dr Shrinivasa Mayya D, principal of Srinivas Institute of Technology, expressed his delight at the overwhelming response from participants across various regions and countries. He emphasized the significance of participation in such hackathons, highlighting how these platforms encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation among budding engineers. He extended his best wishes to all participants for a productive and enriching 24-hour coding experience.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Kiran Rajanna spoke about the evolving landscape of job opportunities and how performance in hackathons plays a crucial role in shaping future employability.
He elaborated on the shift towards innovation-driven careers and encouraged students to explore the vast opportunities available in India’s growing startup ecosystem. He motivated the young minds to nurture an entrepreneurial spirit and shared insights on becoming successful entrepreneurs by leveraging creativity and business acumen.
The faculty coordinator of the event, Prof Shailesh Shetty, head of the department of computer science and business systems, briefed the gathering about the workflow of SRINATHON 2.0. He explained the structure of the 24-hour hackathon, detailing the various stages from idea presentation to prototype development and final evaluation. Prof Shailesh highlighted the objectives of the event — fostering innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving among participants — and emphasized the importance of applying technical knowledge to create impactful real-world solutions. His address provided participants with a clear understanding of the event’s process and expectations, setting the tone for an engaging and productive hackathon.
In his presidential address, Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao congratulated all participants for actively taking part in SRINATHON 2.0 and appreciated their enthusiasm for innovation. He emphasized that such international collaborations and hackathons create valuable connections beyond geographical boundaries and foster mutual learning. He urged students to participate in more such events to gain hands-on experience and exposure. Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao also appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee, including Prof Shailesh Shetty S, Dr Dheeraj Hebri, and the entire SSOSC and NEXUS teams, for successfully organizing this large-scale event.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Dheeraj Hebri, training and placement officer, who expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests, the management, faculty, press & media, and all participants. He also extended thanks to principal’s of sister institutions and Heads of various department & masters of ceremony, Reshmi and Prajwal Kulal, for gracefully conducting the proceedings.
SRINATHON 2.0 now continues with 24 hours of intense coding, problem-solving, and innovation, as participants compete to develop impactful solutions in this international-level hackathon hosted by Srinivas Institute of Technology.
