Udupi, Oct 8: The department of student affairs MAHE Manipal, MAHE Manipal, In Association with KMC Sports Committee, FIT VIB KMC MAHE Manipal and Student Support team MAHE Manipal is set to organize the Mental Health Awareness Run 2025, a 5K Run for Mental Health, on Saturday, October 11, as part of MAHE's Mental Health Awareness Week (October 5-11).

Dr Geetha Maiya, director, department of student affairs, MAHE, addressing the media in the press conference held on October 8, said, “This annual initiative aims to promote mental well-being, encourage healthy lifestyle choices, and foster a culture of empathy, resilience, and support among students, staff, and the larger community. The event will be powered by Federal Bank and supported by KNND Bengaluru, Karnataka Bank, Canara Bank, and Bank of Baroda as key sponsors.”

The deputy commissioner of Udupi District Swaroopa T K, IAS will grace the occasion as the chief guest, while the superintendent of police, Hariram Shankar, IPS, will be the guest of honor. The event will also witness the presence of Dr Narayana Sabhahit, pro vice-chancellor (technology & science), Dr Sharath Rao, pro vice-chancellor (health sciences), Dr P Giridhar Kini, registrar, and Dr Geetha Maiya, director, department of student affairs, MAHE and all the representatives from Federal bank, KNND, Karnataka Bank, Canara Bank and Bank of Baroda will be with us the leading dignitaries driving this meaningful initiative.

The theme of Mental Health Awareness Run 2025, a 5K Run for Mental Health, 'Access to Services - Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies emphasizes the importance of building personal mental strength while extending care and compassion to others', emphasizes the importance of building personal mental strength while extending care and compassion to others a message that resonates deeply in today's fast-paced and demanding world.

The event is expected to draw participation from over 1,000 MAHE Students, staff, MAHE staff dependents Non MAHE, and participants from nearby schools and colleges,

The 5K Run for Mental Health will commence from the EDU Building, MAHE campus. Separate prize categories are set for male and female participants under: MAHE students, MAHE staff, MAHE staff dependents, and non-MAHE participants. Cash prizes include Rs 5,000 for first place, Rs 3,000 for second, and Rs 2,000 for third.

All finishers will receive medals, while registered participants will be provided with t-shirts and refreshments. The event will also feature cultural performances by MAHE students.

Students from nearby high schools will participate under the 'Free Run' category. All finishers in this category will be awarded medals and refreshments as a token of appreciation for their participation and enthusiasm in supporting mental health awareness.

As part of its broader outreach, MAHE will also organize community engagement programs to promote mental health literacy and well-being among the public.

The Mental Health Awareness Run 2025 stands as a flagship initiative under MAHE's sustained efforts to integrate mental wellness into education and community life. By uniting students, faculty, and local organizations, the event aims to inspire collective action and awareness toward mental health and holistic living.
