Karkala: MPM Govt First Grade College hosts Youth Red Cross orientation for students

Karkala, Oct 4: The Youth Red Cross unit of MPM Govt First Grade College, organised an orientation programme in collaboration with IQAC on October 3 at College Auditorium. The programme aimed to introduce the students to the vision, mission and activities of the Youth Red Cross and to motivate them to participate actively in humanitarian services and community development initiatives

The session began with YRC Prayer sung by Divya and team of III BCom. Mohini, YRC programme officer welcomed and introduced the resource person to the gathering. The chief guest Shiva Kumar S J retired assistant professor and YRC programme officer of Sri Bhuvanendra College, Karkala inaugurated the session by watering the sapling and delivered an inspiring lecture on the significance of the Red Cross Movement and the role of youth in carrying forward its objectives.

He also enlightened the students about history and principles of the Red Cross Movement, the activities and responsibilities of YRC volunteers, and opportunities for students in YRC.

The presidential address was delivered by Dr Chandravathi, SWO and HoD of Commerce. She highlighted that the Youth Red Cross provides an excellent platform for young people to engage in selfless service.

IQAC coordinator Vinay M S was present during the programme. Lavita of II BCA compered the programme and Sathwik of II BBA proposed a vote of thanks.
