Mangaluru, Sep 10: The School of Physical and Life Sciences of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) organised a one-day science fest ‘XAVICON 2K25’ for science degree students on September 10 at the LCRI Hall of the university.
As many as 10 scientific competitions, including Science Model Making, Quiz, Inno Expo, Recycled Royalty, Science Pitch, Flavors Beyond Flames, Gen Frames, Catalyst Quiz, Innovation, Mind Quest, Tritech Trials and Science Quest, were organised for the students. Many teams of science students took part in these competitions.




















The fest was inaugurated by Dr Ramachandra Bhat, a proud alumnus of the college and professor in the department of chemistry, NITK Surathkal. In his address, he spoke about the vast opportunities available to science students. Motivating the students by citing his own life experiences, he urged them to use their knowledge and modern technological skills to achieve great things.
Vice chancellor of the university Dr Praveen Martis SJ, who presided over the event, called upon the students to use science for constructive work and to uphold the values of peace and harmony. On the occasion, Dr Ishwar Bhat, director of Xavier Block, was honoured on his retirement.
Programme coordinator Glavin D'Souza welcomed the gathering. Dr Alwyn D’Sa, registrar of the college, Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar of the university, Dr Arun Kalkur, dean of physical sciences, Shirley Andrade, co-coordinator, and student coordinators Nikhil and Prapthi were present on the dais.
Many cultural programmes were presented by the science students.
