Manchester, Aug 9: Manchester United have completed the high-profile signing of Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, in a transfer reportedly worth up to €79 million. The 22-year-old has signed a long-term contract running until June 2030, and will be officially unveiled at Old Trafford during Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Fiorentina.
Speaking after the announcement, Sesko expressed excitement about joining the Premier League giants.
“The history of Manchester United is obviously very special but what really excites me is the future. From the moment I arrived, I could feel the positive energy and family environment. It’s the perfect place to reach my maximum level and fulfil all of my ambitions,” he said.

Sesko also praised United’s new manager Ruben Amorim, under whom he is eager to develop further:
“I cannot wait to start learning from Ruben and connecting with my team-mates to achieve the success that we all know we are capable of together.”
The Slovenia international arrives with an impressive reputation. Over the past two seasons, Sesko has scored more goals than any other player under 23 in Europe’s top five leagues. Last season, he netted 21 goals and contributed six assists for Leipzig, underlining his evolution into one of Europe’s most promising forwards.
Having already made 41 international appearances for Slovenia and scored 16 goals, Sesko has also established himself as a key figure at the national level since debuting in 2021 — becoming the country’s youngest-ever senior debutant.
Manchester United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised Sesko’s attributes and character:
“Benjamin possesses a rare combination of electrifying pace and the ability to physically dominate defenders. All our data analysis and scouting confirmed he has the qualities and mentality to thrive at this club.”
Wilcox highlighted the strategic nature of the signing, saying Sesko is entering an environment designed to nurture elite talent.
“Working under Ruben Amorim and with our performance staff, he’s in the perfect setting to reach his world-class potential. The enthusiasm shown by all our new signings this summer reflects the growing appeal and ambition of Manchester United,” he added.
With Sesko now onboard, United are signalling clear intent to rebuild a squad capable of challenging for major honours — both domestically and in Europe — under a fresh management setup.
